Diabetic Eye Exam

Diabetes is one of the most insidious health conditions, that not only directly influences sugar levels of your blood, it indirectly influences your entire body. It is especially important for diabetics to have regular eye exams due to risks of diabetic retinopathy, which is a complication that can lead to complete loss of vision. Diabetic retinopathy is more likely to occur with diabetics who have had diabetes for a longer period of time. Our doctors perform routine eye exams for many diabetic patients every year. A very thorough check of the interior/exterior of the eye are done to determine if the diabetes has affected any parts of the eye including your vision. Diabetes can cause fluctuations in vision, bleeding in the retinal area and even potential blindness if not treated.
